Our mission is to enhance the knowledge and expertise of government meeting professionals. Our objectives are to improve the quality of, and improve the cost-effectiveness of, government meetings. SGMP is the only national organization in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to government meetings. SGMP delivers our membership value of education, resources and networking to our nearly 2,000 members through 19 chapters nationwide.

    • We will again be virtual for our January Education Luncheon on Thursday, January 14 at 1:30 a.m.
    • Chapter President LeAnna Toups-Bennet, CGMP will guide us through a hands-on training in Google Sheets and show us how the tool can be used for meeting planning collaboration.

    • Our current board's term expires June 30, 2021. In the spring a call for nominations will be posted for the new board (July 1, 2020 - June 30, 2023).
    • If you are considering running for a board position, but would like to talk it through first, our current board is happy to meet with you. We'd welcome the opportunity to answer your questions and provide you with a best of insight. Reach out to us via the emails listed on our Board profile page (must be logged in).

    • Did you know SGMP National and the Gilmer Institute of Learning offer exclusive webinars, at no charge, to SGMP members as a membership benefit?
    • These high-quality industry education opportunities are eligible for pre-approved Contact Hour credits toward CGMP recertification.
    • Many of these webinars are available on demand for viewing at your leisure. Check them out here!

    Hosting a Chapter Luncheon

    • We are in the beginning stages of planning our spring and summer programs. We are now booking speakers. Contact our Programs  Committee today to host an event or to sponsor the meal.
    • Our hopes are continue to be in-person each month beginning December 2020. Based on COVID-19 rates and guidelines, we will be let all registrants know in advance in a luncheon will need to be moved to virtual.

    Letter from the President

    Hello SGMP Louisiana members and friends!

    My heart is heavy. While both New Orleans and Baton Rouge were spared from the brunt of both Hurricanes Marco and Laura, our neighbor cities to the west were not. Our State has been devastated by Hurricane Laura in ways reminiscent of Hurricane Katrina.
